And first : Welcome on DA !
Nice shot, can you tell how you took this shot ? I'm very interested ...
Actually, i will soon buy what's needed to connect my Nikon D70 to my Meade 12"LX200 ... and I hope it will yield nice astrophoto shots !!!!
I used a canon digital rebel and a 10" skywatcher on the EQ-6 mount. If I remember correctly it is the result of around 10 30-45sec exposures and one shorter exposure for the central region plus three dark frames all at ISO 800. All the images were aligned in registar then dark subtracted in photoshop. I then combinded the 30-45sec images by inverting and multiplying in PS. I then did a histogram stretch in Maxim DL, then to pixInsight for a three step noise reduction. Finally back to PS were I used a layer mask to blend in the shorter exposure of the central area then one last level tweak.
a D70 and a 12" meade scope is an exellent setup, it should yield some awsome results. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Im actually just on my way back out to try my hand at photographing the Leo triplet, my scope is in the back yard cooling off as I type so I have to run, but I will send you some links to some great astrophoto resources when I get back
